The Poetry of Everyday Rituals: An Outdoor Kitchen in the South of France

Rising above the energy of Mediterranean warmth.
Blurring the Lines Between Architecture and Landscape.
In the Mediterranean climate of the South of France, an outdoor kitchen is never simply a functional addition. It becomes a place for gathering, sharing and slowing the rhythm of everyday life. Developed in collaboration with Franck Olivier Architect, this contemporary outdoor kitchen in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, was conceived as a seamless meeting point between the comfort of the home and the raw beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Guided by the principles of Slow Living and Soft Minimalism, the space reimagines cooking and hosting as quiet and sensory rituals. Here, daily life unfolds in close dialogue with light, air, and nature. he architecture opens gently toward the garden, inviting the atmosphere of the landscape into the experience of living.
A Harmonious Dialogue of Material and Light.
The material palette was carefully composed to create a subtle dialogue between Nordic restraint and Mediterranean warmth. A light grey stainless steel kitchen block is paired with a sculptural white faucet and the raw, live-edge texture of a natural wood dining table. Together, these elements create a calm balance between precision and organic presence.

At the heart of the composition, the backlit Décora Glass wall by Tecnografica, featuring the mineral Antarctica pattern, introduces a luminous interplay of texture, depth and soft light. When illuminated, its glacial surface becomes almost atmospheric, echoing the shifting shadows of the surrounding trees and bringing a quiet sense of movement to the space throughout the day.
Designing for Wellbeing and Connection.
This project reflects our holistic approach to residential architecture, where space is shaped for feeling. Aromatic herbs are integrated directly into the kitchen environment, while open sightlines toward the garden allow the eye and mind to rest. Light, air and natural materials work together to create an atmosphere of calm and restoration.

As a result, we have a space where everyday gestures regain their depth and poetry. Preparing a meal, gathering around the table or simply pausing in the changing light become part of a more conscious way of living. The architecture remains restrained, attentive and deeply connected to its setting, allowing the experience of home to feel both grounded and quietly uplifting.
